Traffic is good. Turning it into calls, quote requests or bookings is what counts. When a website gets visits but brings in nothing, the cause is almost always on this list.
1. Visitors don't understand what you do
A headline like “Welcome to our website” says nothing. At the top of the home page, you need what you do, who for and where. “Plumber and heating engineer in Toulouse, call-outs within 24 hours” beats any slogan.
2. They can't find the contact button
Visitors should never have to hunt for a way to reach you. A clear button at the top of every page, a tap-to-call number on mobile and a reminder at the bottom of the page are often enough to double the number of people who get in touch.
3. The form is too long
Every extra field loses you visitors. Name, how to reach them, message: that's often all you need for a first conversation. The rest can wait for the phone call.
4. There's no social proof
Before contacting a stranger, people want reassurance: reviews, photos of real jobs or real customers, hard figures, a face. A website with no proof is asking visitors to trust it blindly.
5. The website is slow or hard to read on mobile
Most of your visitors arrive on a phone, often in a hurry. One slow page or text that's too small, and they're off to the next competitor in the results.
Where to start?
Start by measuring. If you don't track calls and form submissions, there's no way of knowing what works. Then fix things in the order of this list: the message, the button, the form, the proof, the speed.
If you'd like a fresh pair of eyes, we can audit your website and hand you a prioritised action plan.
